A Dose of My Own Medicine
February 14, 2020
Some who have been watching my journey make an assumption things are easier or simpler because I am no longer fat—which is so far from the truth. It regularly leaves me shaking my head, mostly because it is what I used to believe about others before me. I longed for what I believed they had. I imagined they sailed through life without the challenges being delivered to me every day. Can you say “victim mentality”?

The truth is everyone has the same life challenges but some people just have different skills to navigate through them. And learning those skills is exactly what I did to end my toxic relationship with food, a step that was absolutely necessary for me to be successful on my weight loss journey. Well, good news for you because you can learn these skills, too.

While writing my book and planning my workshops, I found myself going through phases of self-doubt and letting negativity build in my head. I started questioning why I should even be sharing my journey and who would care. I had a strong case of “compare-itis”, feeling I needed to do exactly what others were doing. I thought I needed perfection before sharing. I headed down a rabbit hole of self-doubt and fear. Thankfully, I do have the tools and tribe in my life to kick me in the butt and knock that off. I fought my fears, dug deep, and decided to keep going for it.

Now, It’s Your Turn

Be warned, once you have the information I’m sharing through my book and my workshops, you can’t unlearn it. But, you do have to commit to hard work and choose the road less traveled. I also promise it is completely worth it. A lot of the information is also not a brand new concept. But I did research and developed some tools specifically to support me through my journey. I still use the tools today to navigate life’s emotions and challenges without food as a reward, comfort, or avoidance of feelings. I am sharing information you may think you know, but through my experience and through a format I found to be effective, I hope you will listen, and just maybe it is your time to really hear it and take action.

The feedback I have received has been humbling and empowering. It has become my “Why.” I am even more motivated to continue sharing my story with hopes it will help others start to take action.
